Pokémon Company CEO drops hints at forthcoming games
Speaking with Famitsu this month, co-producer of the original Pokémon games, creator of the Trading Card Game and current CEO of the Pokémon Company, Tsunekaz Ishihara has suggested that the release of Pokédex 3D, Pokémon Rumble Blast and the mobile app, Pokémon Say Tap are just the first surprises the company has in store for this year.
Ishihara also indicated that they are far from done with DS development, and that their forthcoming announcements will cater to both DS and 3DS owners, sparking speculation over whether this simply means both platforms will receive different types of new games, or whether their next title could be split across both systems in some fashion. (Something the company did the last time there was a major hardware switch in the offing by releasing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon on both the GBA and the Nintendo DS).
Either way, it looks like at the very least we’ve got an announcement of at minimum one new game still to come this year. With the recent pattern of announcement/releases, it’s also fairly likely that we won’t have to wait too long to play the future title/s either.
Personally, I’d say it wouldn’t be outside the realms of possibility to be at least hearing about the next main-series Pokémon game (such as Pokémon ‘Grey’ or a Ruby/Sapphire remake) in the next couple of months.
