Pokémon X and Y Anouncement
Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog. Today I’d like to take the time and talk about the new Pokemon games, X & Y. If you haven’t already watched the trailer please take the time to do that now.
So, on January the 8th, as we ALL should know by know, Pokemon X & Y versions were announced for the 3ds. These games have full 3d graphics and will support the features of the 3ds, but will they really be that different? As you can see from the trailer, throughout it’s entirety, the characters still seem to be moving on that saem linear grid that we’re all so very familiar with. We can also see, at 0:23, that the main character is running along what we can assume to be Route 3, with a small town with a Pokemon Center in the background. However, then things start to get unfamiliar.
We can see, throughout multiple parts of the trailer, places that seem to be gyms, such as the “Wonder Room” that appears to be floating in space, or the “Indiana Jones” tree house, where we can see the main character swinging across gaps in the platform, and finally “Bugsy’s Mansion”, which really stands out as gym-ish, given the multiple trainers standing around. But lastly, there’s something that seems to awesome to be a gym, at 1:10 we can see some blazing columns of fire shoot into the sky out of the floor off this room. A room that seems to just scream CHAMPION!
Now, at the beginning of the trailer we can see the main character staring into a mirror, which in A LOT of other games serves as the character customization screen, a place where you can go to customize your character. Plus, you can’t say that those sunglasses don’t look totally swappable. I would actually LOVE for us to be able to customize our own trainers, Nintendo seems to want X & Y to be online friendly, what with the global release and all, and now maybe my trainer won’t have to gain 100 pounds and don a hiking suit just to play with friends online.
So now lets get into the starters. We can see all of the new Gen 6 starters battling it out in the new 3d battle screens, where Pokemon aren’t just lifeless statues anymore, dishing out unknown attacks. However, we can make assumptions. My guess is that the second move used in the trailer reflects the second type of that Pokemon. We can see Fennekin using a fire type move first, naturally, and a psychic type move second. However, Fennekin’s name also reflects his “supposed” second type, the other names probably do to but I was only smart enough to gather this one. Fennec is a type of fox, and “kin” could stand for Kinetic Energy, so we can infer that Fennekin’s second type, further on up the evolutionary stream of course, will be Psychic.
And I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out. This would mean for the first time in Pokemon starters, the normal flow would also be reversed. Do the math yourself.
Psychic is Super Effective against Fighting
Fighting is Super Effective against Dark
Dark is Super Effective against Psychic
Now, I’d like to conclude this with some speculation on where we will actually be playing at. The answer of course, FRANCE.
What? Pokemon in FRANCE! Of all places?
YES, FRANCE! There’s plenty of evidence too. Pikachu just so happens to address the world from the Eiffel Tower, AND in the trailer you can actually see the Pokemon equivalent of the Eiffel Tower in a Paris style city. Let me explain for those of you who are not as seasoned trainers as some of us. Every region in Pokemon has been based off of a place in the real world. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh were all based off of places in Japan, but Unova actually was based off of New York. So, when I say the next game will take place in France, that basically means the next region will have a more European feel to it.
So Pokemon fans, grab your passports and hope aboard the train to France as we prepare for October! Feel free to further speculate in the comments below, I’d also like to know which starter is your favorite thus far, and as always, THANKS FOR READING!
